SG6b. 1d on 1/2d Vermilion. 'VERTICAL PAIR, SURCHARGE TETE-BECHE'.
The unique and highly magnificent block of four (two pairs), the upper pair with surcharges types 1-2 upright and the lower pair with surcharge types 5-6 inverted. Very fine used with 'MR 31 1900' circular datestamps.
This is the most important and spectacular of Mafeking surcharged Philately and a 'Crown Jewel' of Philately. Only two further examples (both pairs) are thought to exist, one of which resides in the Royal Collection.
