Envelope from Settle to London, bearing 1d. Black with good to large margins, cancelled with superb strike of the distinctive 'SETTLE' Maltese Cross  in red. Re-directed ot Essex with red London 'tombstone' alongside adhesive. 'Penny Post' handstamp on the front alongside the adhesive, various backstamps including 'SETTLE AU 20 1840' in blue.
