1859 (November 10). Immaculate clean, neat entire cover from Port Louis to Nantes , France, (verso) struck with crowned 'MAURITIUS NO 10 1853' despatch datestamp and black Frence arrival datestamp 'PARIS A BORDEAUX 7 DEC 59'. Franked with a horizontal pair of the (1859 October) 2d. 'Sherwin' issue (Positions 4/5), and struck with the 'blank oval of bars', showing usuage of the 4d. overseas letter rate, indicating a weight upto 1/2 ounce. This is the correct postal rate from the Government Gazzette of 1st May 1858, which shows rates to be used after 6th May 1859.
On the front handstruck '8' (decimes) charge in black (due to arrival in France, with 8 decimes = 7 1/2 grams), under the revised Anglo-French postal Convertion of 1856, and faint red 'PAYS ETR V. SUEZ/6 DEC 59/A.M.B.D.' transit c.d.s.
